Paediatric Care At Cliffs Chiropractic Southend
From babies to teenagers, chiropractic care may be appropriate and could provide fast effective relief.
Treating children is a passion at our Clinic. During the daytime the waiting room can be packed with young children and Mums with prams, the reception girls often juggling duties with a baby in their arms. People travel from a wide area to see Arif Soomro our resident chiropractic paediatric specialist and co-founder of the Clinic.
Arif Soomro is a Fellow of the International Chiropractic Paediatric Association and has been a Certified Chiropractic Paediatric Practitioner since 2001.
Whilst babies and children have their own range of problems it is also often little recognised that they can suffer with the same problems of the spine and joints as adults. The many hours that children spend sitting on badly designed chairs and at desks often the wrong size for their frame puts stresses and strains on them. These in turn can result in muscles in their neck, back and extremities to tighten. This tightening can cause the bones of the spine or other joints to lose their normal range of motion.
It’s unfortunate that all too often a child’s pain may be put down to growing pains and further treatment is not sought.
Don’t assume a child will ‘grow out of it’. Seek advice from a qualified chiropractor as chiropractic care could provide fast effective relief.
A specialised approach at Cliffs Chiropractic Clinic
Additional chiropractic skills are required to diagnose and treat new babies and young children as their spines are immature. Arif Soomro, is one of the country’s more established paediatric practitioners and Southend on Sea’s only Certified Chiropractic Paediatric Practitioner.
The clinic has equipment and techniques that allow anxious patients or nervous children to gain confidence and achieve results.
If you have any questions regarding your baby, child or teenager’s complaint then we encourage you to contact the clinic to discuss your concerns with one of our team of clinicians.
Assessing, diagnosing and treating your child
At the Clinic, your child will firstly be assessed by the chiropractor. Following a complete assessment the chiropractor will discuss all their findings with you. If treatment is appropriate and with your consent the chiropractor will gently treat the child’s spine to improve the motion of the joint, removing pain and muscle spasm.
As a parent, you can always be present when your child receives chiropractic treatment. The chiropractor will take a thorough medical history and conduct standard neurological and orthopaedic tests to determine whether spinal motion is normal. Treatment normally consists of gentle adjustments to parts of the spine or joints that are not moving properly. Modified techniques are used depending on the age and size of the child.
