Ahh So Pretty! Our Front Office Team at Cliffs Chiropractor Southend

the front office team at Cliffs Chiropractor SouthendIf you ever wondered what it takes to work as part of the front office team at the clinic, here’s a clue, smile and be happy!

Lisa, Gill, Sue and Sarah all completed the 2014 Southend Twilight Colourthon on Saturday 5th of July and are on course to raise £1,000 for Havens Hospice.

Thank you so much to all our fantastic patients for their generous donations and cheering support on route.

Arif did suggest the tu’tus could be adopted as part of the uniform. Can we have a show of patient hands for all in favour?!

Dev had something to share when he lasted visited Cliffs Chiropactor Southend

chiropractic for children at Cliffs Chiropractor SouthendWhen 4 year old Dev came to see Arif a few weeks ago, he presented with a left arm and leg that failed to move correctly and caused him to repeatedly fall when he tried to run or walk fast.

The result was he had lost the confidence to run and wouldn’t play energetically with other children.

Arif was able to identify the cause of his problem which required both a chiropractic and nutritional approach.

When Dev burst into our clinic in early July, his bright little face couldn’t wait to tell Arif all his news.

The previous day he had the confidence to run in his school sports day and came first! How fantastic is that.. we were all crying with joy.

Treating and working with young children is not always easy but the amazing results I so often experience make it one of the most rewarding treatments on offer in the clinic.

Pregnant and in pain? Chiropractic treatment at Cliffs Chiropractor Southend could be the answer

Carrying your newborn in your womb, whether it is your first one or your fifth is an amazing experience. It is said to build strong bonds between mother and child and is a very special time. Of course it is also well known that being pregnant carries its sacrifices;

Morning sickness isn’t fun, the changes to your body aren’t necessarily a bad thing but they can be quite scary and you have to make dietary changes to your way of life. Perhaps one of the biggest effects of being pregnant is the extra weight you are carrying around though. It is completely natural to gain weight during pregnancy but all the extra growth, fluids and baby itself can add a few kilograms to your body.

This is a significant difference and many pregnant women struggle with back pain. As a leading Chiropractor in Southend I treat patients regularly on this issue.

The chiropractic approach to pregnancy care

The aim of the chiropractic approach to pregnancy care is to offer whenever possible a natural pathway towards birth by recognising current and impending problems.

Thinking of dusting off the tennis racquet? Avoid injury with advice from a leading chiropractor in Southend

One of the biggest sporting events of every summer is finally here. Wimbledon has started and for a lot of us that means picking up a racquet and playing again. The level of skills won’t be the same as professionals but the enthusiasm will.

As great as it is a lot of you will be exercising I urge you to take caution. Coming from a chiropractor in Southend my advice to you is to control your enthusiasm and look after yourself because if you don’t you might end up injuring and hurting yourself.

Common tennis injuries are;

  • Tennis elbow
  • Wrist strain
  • Back pain
  • Tendonitis of the shoulders and Knees

As a leading chiropractor in Southend I often advise my patients on sporting injuries. I often advise my clients to;

  • Warm up and stretch – It is one of the best things you can do to avoid sporting injuries. Make sure you ease your body in to exercise or you could risk pulling a muscle and suffering some a lot of aches.
  • Monitor and listen to your body – Your body lets you know how you are going. If you are feeling sore and pains in certain areas take a rest and monitor the situation.
  • Keep hydrated – We all know the importance of hydration to our survival but it is all too easy to forget when playing tennis. Make sure you take a few sips of water every time you have a break in play. Not only will it keep you healthy it will help your performance greatly.

If you feel like you need any further advice or a one-to-one session at Cliffs Chiropractic clinic to help with any sporting injuries during Wimbledon and the rest of the summer then contact us on 01702 430430 or email us at info@CliffsChiro.co.uk

Avoid couch potato World Cup Injuries this year with advice from a leading Chiropractor in Southend

The Football World Cup in Brazil has been a fantastic occasion so far.  It is one of the biggest shows on Earth. There have been some amazing games and unexpected results which has kept a lot of us, including myself glued to the screen. With up to 3 matches a day at the moment there is a lot for us to watch. As great as it is having all this football viewing, there is a slight risk to your health, bad posture.

Unfortunately for most of us we won’t be able to physically attend any live matches in Brazil. Instead we are likely to be stuck inside and sat on our couches for up to 3 matches in a row. As bad as missing out on the carnival and glorious sunshine is, my main concern as a leading Chiropractor in Southend is your posture.

If you aren’t sat properly it can lead to back pains and other bodily pains. Being a busy Southend Chiropractor it is my duty to offer my advice to patients to avoid any potential problems. So to enjoy the feast of football without damaging your body my advice to you is;

  • Get up and walk around at half time – Sitting in one place or position for too long is not good for your body and health. So when half time comes get up and make yourself a cup of tea or glass of water. Stretch all your stiff muscles and joints and walk around.
  • Ensure you are sat correctly – Don’t slouch. Make sure your body weight is supported by the couch as much as possible and don’t put any strain on one particular area (such as your neck).
  • Ensure the TV angle is right for you – Don’t sit one way and constantly turn your head to watch the TV. Make sure you have the TV in front of you to avoid any unnecessary strain on your neck.

If you feel like you need any further advice or a one-to-one session to avoid any back and neck pains during the world cup then please contact us at the Cliffs Chiropractic Clinic on 01702 430430 or email us at info@CliffsChiro.co.uk

Book a Spinal Check Up for your youngster at Cliffs Chiropractor Southend

Did you know that youngsters and teenagers are at risk of neck and back pain as a result of their sedentary lifestyles and excessive use of technology?

The British Chiropractic Association recently undertook research that revealed that almost three quarters (68%) of 11 to 16 year olds spend up to four hours a day on a laptop, tablet or computer and a staggering 73% spend up to six hours on the devices.  More than a third (38%) of parents said their child spends up to six hours a day on their mobile phone.

Chiropractic Awareness Week (April 14th to 20th) is focussed on warning parents that their teenagers could be at risk from suffering from back or neck pain due to sedentary lifestyles and the excessive use of technology.

Here at Cliffs Chiropractor Southend were doing our bit to help teenagers by offering ‘Spinal Check Ups for kids’ between now and April 25th.

The Spinal Check Up will include a 20 minute exam, posture check and results with recommendations for just £19.

Just call or email us to book in your little and medium sized angels for their ‘Spinal Check Up’ and don’t forget to spread the word to your friends and family.
