Arif Co-Hosts The Spring BCA Conference …

In March, Arif co-hosted the British Chiropractic Association’s (BCA) Spring Conference. The focus of the conference was ‘Beyond The Spine’.

These conferences offer chiropractors an opportunity to continue their professional development and also to meet up with other chiropractors. Both Arif and Paz took the opportunity to do both:)

There was an array of fabulous speakers from the UK and internationally. They presented more evidence and research supporting chiropractic care, chiropractic techniques, methods of effective communication, future education in the UK and much more.

Arif spent time with the current and past presidents of the BCA with whom he continues to work with as a council member.

The conference is a great place to catch up with old friends and make new ones. Here is Paz catching up with our friend, Leigh Hurley from the Spine Fine Chiropractic Clinic. Also in the photo is a new friend, Lewis, who is a 1st year chiropractic student. Lewis, like other students, is just starting his journey to eventually helping and serving patients.

Arif has been elected to the BCA Council

arifArif has been elected by British Chiropractic Association (BCA) members to sit on the BCA Council to help shape and strengthen the chiropractic profession to grow and meet the challenges of the future.

We are very proud of Arif’s election and it demonstrates the high regard in which Arif is held by his fellow chiropractors. We know that he will help shape a great future for the chiropractic profession with his drive and passion.

Arif says “I am passionate about chiropractic and the development of our awaesome profession. I have practised for 28 years and am still amazed at the results chiropractic achieves; I look forward to going to work every single day.

I take a keen interest in learning about new developments and have continued my education, mainly within the field of paediatric chiropractic (I am a Fellow of the International Chiropractic Paediatric Association), but also in medical acupuncture.

As a patient at Cliffs you’ve probably noticed that I love chiropractic! Simply put it has given me my main focus in life, outside of my family (although I met my wife Melanie also a chiropractor and medical herbalist at chiropractic college in Bournemouth), and for that I will be forever grateful.

Our profession has challenges from many angles – regulatory, political, competitive and even media. I look forward to serving the profession and be a part of helping to direct its future.”

Look slimmer taller and younger and get a better back too

good postureHaving good posture means holding your body upright against gravity, we can look younger and slimmer, breathe more easily and have more energy but we need to train our bodies to do this.

The ideal posture allows for a plumb line to hang straight through your ear, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle. Try and stand in a relaxed way but gently contracting your abdominal muscles. When sitting, the same is true. The gravity line should pass thorough ear, shoulder and hip.

‘Straighten Up’ is a simple, three-minute exercise programme for all ages, designed to help strengthen the spine, improve posture and help joints.

These exercises can release tension in your shoulders so you look less hunched, build core muscle which will flatten your stomach, stretch your chest muscles so you can breath more easily and deeply helping you to feel more energised.

Give them a go for a New Year and New You.
